Bill Copestake (1929-1934)

Herbert Stanley (Bill) Copestake, born in 1917, was the oldest living member of the OBS when he passed away on Sunday 25th January 2015. He entered the School in 1929 and on leaving was employed as a trainee accountant with The Imperial Tobacco Company. During the war he served in the Military Police in London and India. He married his wife Eileen (ex Red Maids) on December 7th 1940 arriving at Temple Meads Station on the previous evening just as the station was bombed. Returning from India he joined Ashton Containers where he completed his Accountancy exams and eventually became Chief Accountant of the Company. In retirement he was very active in the community of Nailsea and served as Chairman of Governors of Grove School. He is survived by his wife and daughter and two grandchildren.
