Mendip Spring - August 6th

The third game of 2019 season will be at Mendip Spring Golf Club Tuesday August 6th

Following Roger Ashton’s recommendation I contacted the Mendip Spring Golf Club and they have provisionally held tee times for us from 11:28 on Tuesday August 6th. The price for bacon rolls, coffee and 18 holes on the Brinsea course is £24 - a very good deal for a course of this standard.

Hartley played there on Monday this week and kindly gave me an update on the course which I quote below:

“I was at MS yesterday (Congresbury) and it would be a very good venue for us. Pretty flat so not nearly so arduous as Stockwood Vale (which I much enjoyed), plenty of buggies. Lots of water but mostly not too tight. A couple of long 5s but 3s not so bad. Just over 6100yds total. Excellent condition of greens, fairways a bit toasted”. Hartley.

The Mendip Springs website is at https://www.mendipspringgolfclub.com and is very comprehensive. Their address is Honeyhall Lane, Congresbury, BS49 5JT and telephone number 01934 852322. It seems fairly equidistant for all of us not too far south of Bristol Airport. Much as we all love our old favourites, it will be nice to try somewhere new. Can you let me know a.s.a.p. whether you are available for this venue as I need to give them the numbers soon in view of the imminent date. They appear to host quite a few golf societies during the summer.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone,

P.S. The course is at Congresbury. Wouldn’t it be interesting if we found that we were golfing over part of the former estate of the our founder John Carr?
