From Barry Coombs:
Dave Harris was one of those very quiet and unassuming people who nonetheless was an outstanding player for the Old Elizabethans’ RFC. He was totally reliable in all situations and stopped many a try being scored against the Old Es.
The OEs had a very strong team in the late 60s and early 70s and Teddy Elbrow, who now lives in Canada, was an outstanding winger at the time and has paid the following tribute to Dave...
'Dave was an incredible full back. He could catch a ball in his own 25 (22 metres now) and then boot it down to the oppositions 25 line.
He could kick conversions from any angle and way out.
He also joined into the attacking line and contributed to many tries.
I last saw him in his pub in 2002 when I came over to England for a brief visit. I wish I could have come over more often.
RIP Dave.'
Dave Harris' funeral will take place on Wednesday 21st July at 2.15pm at South Bristol Crematorium, Bridgwater Road, Bristol.
