Matt says:

My days at QEH, six years as a boarder, were amongst the most significant and memorable of my life and certainly instilled in me values that I hope I have been able to model in my more than 26 years as a secondary school teacher and senior leader. The resilience encouraged in my years at QEH has certainly been valuable in the last 5 years, since I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, a blood cancer very uncommon in people under the age of 70 (I was 45 when diagnosed.) Following a course of chemo-immunotherapy in 2017 and a positive period of remission, despite the challenges presented by COVID-19 while I remain immunocompromised, I have decided to celebrate my 50th birthday in October by taking on the London Marathon on October 2nd.

I am running to raise money for Cancer Research UK (https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/matthews-london-marathon-15) in an attempt to fulfil the challenge of the school motto "dum tempus habemus operemur bonum". Any support any OEs can provide will be hugely appreciated and extremely motivational. Thank you.
