Alan Pring was a pupil at QEH in 1974-1981.

He was Captain of School and Captain of rugby in his final year. After leaving QEH, Alan studied law at Kings College London and having attended Bar School and qualified as a barrister.

Alan died in December 1990 aged 27 from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. At the time of his death, he was a barrister in Pump Court Chambers in Winchester.

Following Alan's death, the charity Epilepsy Bereaved was formed by Kate's Mum and Alan's partner Jane, along with three other women who had lost children suddenly and unexpectedly from epilepsy. The charity later changed its name to SUDEP Action and Jane has continued to work tirelessly as CEO.

Having raised funds for SUDEP Action in the past, Alan's sister Kate is looking to recognise the passing of what would have been Alan's 60th birthday on 8th May.  Over the weekend of 29th April, Kate, her husband Scott, and her sons Tom and Ben will be cycling from significant points in Alan's life. They will set off from Kings College in London ending in Winchester on day 1 and then cycle from Winchester to Bristol on day 2. They will cover approximately 150 miles over the two days and are looking for sponsorship for this. Then on Alan's birthday, Monday 8th May they will be hosting a Garden party in Bristol with friends and family.

If you would like to support Kate's ride in memory of Alan for his 60th birthday, you can donate via their Just Giving page by clicking the link: https://www.justgiving.com/page/catherine-fisher-1676124302746
