Tewkesbury RFC v Old Elizabethans 1st XV
21st February 2026

The 1st XV fixture this weekend was away vs Tewkesbury RFC. This was a rearranged match following the postponement a couple of weekends ago due to Tewkesbury’s ground having a waterlogged pitch.

Both sides had played their part in an entertaining and high scoring match earlier in the season when Es had run out winners with a final score of 47-31, so Es were looking to do the double on these league opponents but this would be no easy achievement, a real test against a team sitting just one place below Es in the league.

1st XV SQUAD: Andy Adams, Fergus Blyth, Greg Foord, Ben Charlton, Andrew Barnett, Will Fitz, Stefan Perunovic, Jakob Harding, Marcus Boxall, Sam Hygate, Alex CS, Pat Dore, Freddie Williams, Kit Douel, Arthur Mills, Oli Beach, Ollie Brown

MATCH REPORT:
For once I could not make this game and from what has been reported, for the first time there was little or no travelling support for the lads, a real shame as it sounds like they put on a really good show.

Not surprisingly there were no WhatsApp updates during the game so I only have the final score of (7-31). So a really good scoreline and victory for the Es’ squad. I understand, from skipper Pat Dore, that Oli Beach was making his debut, coming on at second row, and there were great performances from Marcus Boxall, Stefan Perunovic, Will Fitz and Andrew Barnett, all standing out.

The result keeps Es in 6th place in the league at the moment but maybe with some easier games to come that 5th place target is still within the Club’s reach.

The next fixture for the 1st XV is on Saturday 28 February, a home match vs Cheltenham North RFC. Let’s hope the level of support that the club has been used to recently resumes. See you there! C’mon ES.

FINAL SCORE: Tewkesbury RFC 7 – 31 Old Elizabethans

Skippers Man of the Match: Stefan Perunovic
