This year's festive BBC drama, 'Around The World In 80 Days' is written by none other than OE Ashley Pharoah.
The adventure story is an adaptation of the novel written by French novelist Jules Verne which was first published in 1872.
The plot follows protagonist Phileas Fogg of London in his attempt to travel around the world in eighty days to win a bet. He travels with his valet Jean Passepartout and journalist Abigail Fix.
The eight part series will feature stars David Tennant, Ibrahim Koma and Leonie Benesch in various forms of transport including the famous hot air balloon that the story is renowned for.
Judging from Ashley Pharoah’s previously produced and esteemed works of ‘Ashes to Ashes’ and ‘Life on Mars’; ‘Around The World In 80 Days’ will be a phenomenon when this globe-trotting story comes out on Boxing Day.
