4 years was well worth the wait!
Our redeveloped sports grounds at Failand hosted a fantastic return to QEH Sports Day after disruptions from COVID and the prior development of the facilities.
The usual events included; tug of war, high jump, and relay races. The competition was as popular as ever and it was great to see so many parents spectating all of the sporting successes.
Afternoon tea was provided to spectators, while participants refuelled with a hearty barbeque catered by the fabulous Holroyd Howe. QEH Friends hosted a Pimms stall and a sweets stall (one for the adults and one for the students), as well as a Big Jubilee raffle, and a silent auction for tickets to the England v Barbarians rugby match. And, there was even an ice cream van on site which secured the sunny weather!
At the end of the day, it was revealed that the winners were Bird's House. It was a well-deserved win and I'm sure that many OEs from Bird's house will feel a sense of pride in learning of this win.
This year also marks 175 years of House competitions at QEH. We asked our OEs to reflect on their memories of House competitions, and it is of no surprise that Sports Day was a common shared memory.
