QEH has topped the Bristol leaderboard in the Duke of Edinburgh Southwest Region Statistical Review published today, and is in the Top 10 of all schools in the region.  With 107 Awards completed during the year, QEH is more than 10% ahead of any other participating centre in Bristol.  Over 150 students are involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with six weekends a year dedicated to Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions.

DofE is only one part of the Outdoor Pursuits co-curricular programme. The Ten Tors Challenge saw a record six teams participate in 2019 with every one completing their route in good time as usual.  As this year's Ten Tors was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the teams were challenged to camp in their gardens instead. Tents were pitched, fires lit and hammocks strung for a unique Ten Tors experience!

The Outdoor Pursuits team also organise a summer expedition every year and recently groups have been wild camping in Scotland (and survived the midges), climbed high in the Matterhorn region, achieved Base Camp on Everest and tested their physical and mental endurance in adventurous activities in Corsica.
